Type of a scam Online Purchase

We attempted to sell our boat through a Craigslist ad. We received text messages from a person claiming to be from Panama City interested in buying the boat. It seemed suspicious from the start as he didn’t request pictures, video or to see the boat in person. He said he would pay through paypal. We received an email confirming the funds have been transferred but upon closer investigation, the email was not from paypal but rather [email protected] Also, he "paid" us 850.00 extra so that we could pay the shipping agent he had "hired" through a moneygram. No money was every placed in our Paypal account. This was obviously a scam and we ceased working with the individual. We wanted to let other people in the area know in case they are trying to sell a bigger ticket item in the area as well.
