Type of a scam Online Purchase

My 18 year old son questioned a charge on his debit card and we traced it to this company. It was a subscription. He called their 800 number and they promised to refund the subscription charge but were unable to provide any other information about the charge, such as the vendor, so that he could know not to do whatever it was that he did that created the subscription. I then called them myself and they said the only way to get that information is to contact their Fraud and Compliance department – the representative does not have that information and it can be obtained no other way than via fax.
