Type of a scam Debt Collections

Received a phone message from someone claiming to be Victor Cain from Legal Delivery Services claiming that he was wanting to deliver legal papers. He left a phone number to return the call – 855-213-7598. When the call was returned a Chad Armstrong answered claiming that he was from Novello Acquisition Groups in California wanting to collect a debt and would serve court paper if payment was not received in two hours. A search online reveals that the address provided by the company is attached to another company’s name. When asked if he had sent a official debt collection notice via mail and if so, since the letter was not received, if a copy could be sent via fax, Chad refused to fax a copy of the letter, but instead would send a letter via email and would send that same emailed letter eventually via mail. When asked about Victor Cain and Legal Delivery Services who made the initial contact he denied knowing any such person.
