Type of a scam Phishing

A person contacted me saying they were interested in purchased my motorcycle. After a couple of e-mails the person asked if I would run I background report and offered a website. They said they were reimburse me for the fee if they purchased the bike. The history report was only $20 and figured it may be a good thing to have on hand so figured why not (Rookie mistake). After sending the report I never heard from the person.

I know it was a scam because a month later I received the exact same e-mail request from another person. This is apparently a type of scam fishing for 20 bucks or my ID. I should have known better.
