Type of a scam Employment

I walked in as a referral from my mother and was told a general description of company. I was told that they deal with cleaning and security. With the cleaning I was told that I would need to complete the OSHA training. The training consist of a seminar on Saturdays from 10:30-12:30 and then afterwards it’s the online portion which is a 10 hour course followed by an assessment. Upon completing and passing the assessment I received a text saying that I have an appointment for job placement only to get there and find out that the place is really an employment agency. Basically I paid $299 just to walk into a employment agency and fill out and application.(something anyone can do for free)
