Type of a scam Government Agency Imposter

It’s a scam. Forming an LLC you receive many documents back and forth. They effectively come across as a government agency looking for a payment of $114.50 to attain a Business Entity Standing Certificate from New Jersey Certificate Service. You see all over the internet about this scam. Unfortunately I fell for it as I felt my head was spinning with going through the process for the first time.

It is incredibly hard to find them online. But I found another post – see image – from someone else that was scammed and this is how I found their number. No other records online.

I called the number and they said they would reimburse me. Sure enough a month later I received a check for the amount but to the order of the LLC name that I formed…. The check I wrote was from my personal account. I do not have an account for the LLC to deposit this check which requires tons of work and something I was not planning to do. Therefore, although they are "willing" to reimburse, they refuse to write the check to the individual that paid them… But instead the woman told me I should have read the fine print that states the refund will be made to the company? There is no reason why you cant write a check back to the individual that paid you. But this is a very smart aspect of their scam. Knowing many LLC likely do not have the account opened – they can make the claim they reimbursed, knowing many don’t have the account made.

The check has an address of :

NJ Certificate Services

2312 4th St N

St Petersburg, FL 33704

When you google this, they are apartments. The attached image has an address of

English Today USA LLC

308 Island Ln

Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234-6986

Another random home. This is a complete scam. They have call centers picking up the phone. They effictively impersonate a government agency…. claim fine print, yet have zero record or any information available online that I can find.

If someone were to dig in this, I have no doubt they would uncover a complete scam.
