Type of a scam Romance

I have a friend who was recently dating this girl he met online. She started asking for money because she was having financial issues. He started giving her money and she was asking him for approx. $500/2wks. So he’s been giving her all his pay check. I began to question this because he’s never met her in person, she always has an excuse. Also, he keeps asking her for pictures and she doesn’t want to provide anything. He finally broke up with her but she keeps harassing him for more money. I’m sure it’s a scam but we just really want to know who this person is,he’s been giving all his money to. Her story doesn’t add up and I’m sure everything about her is fake, but I just want to make sure that this persons identity is fake.
