My father received a statement in the mail detailing an invoice summary for services rendered by Nationwide Long Distance Service, which he presumed to be from his telephone company after a change in his telephone service, which never occurred. He proceeded to pay the bill three times in successive months, each for $9.66, after receiving similar bill statements by postage mail. There were no attached documents detailing the services rendered, or bearing any company letterhead.

Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

~We have local and long distance Service with AT&T.

~We received a letter and a bill from Nationwide Long Distance that reads, in part: " Nationwide Long Distance has transitioned to a direct bill platform and is now sending your monthly long distance bill separately from your local AT&T phone bill. Due to this transition, you may have received an AT&T bill with previous long distance charges. Please be assured that all charges on this statement are new, any overlap in billing statements is simply a timing issue"

~AT&T confirmed on 12/27 and again today that we are still covered under their long distance billing and that we should disregard this letter.

~I called the toll free number provided and spoke with a representative who ask me what message I would like to leave for the account manager. I replied "I did not order this service and I do not wish to do business with you. I have notified AT&T and will also notify the ScamPulse.com in my state.

~Below please see a scanned copy of letter/bill (Pls excuse my hastily scrawled notes…)
