Type of a scam Phishing

I had an impersonator contact me claiming to be a church friend. She made small talk & suggested I contact an agent working for the National Institute of Health on the Global Empowerment Summit 2017. She claimed she received $30,000 cash from them & said I should text this agent (she provided the phone #) to see if I might be eligible. I caught something was wrong when I asked about a mutual friend. I’m not sure what they were up to or after, but I contacted my friend by phone & she confirmed it was NOT her.
