Type of a scam Government Grant

Someone impersonated one of my friends on Instagram. We had a conversation and she said that she had been awarded a grant of $25,000 from the National Endowment Program. Then someone asked me to fill out an application, which I did. It seemed legitimate, and I sent a picture of my driver’s license. They sent me a cash app of $sharp9951, and asked for a payment of $500 for fees. At that point, I thought it might be a scam and cut off communications. I did not send any money or give any bank account information.
