A Facebook friend’s account was used to contact me almost verbatim except it used the National Endowment funds for Humanities Initiatives. It said to contact them via text which I unfortunately blocked and deleted. The contact’s name was Brian Stewart. I was instructed to ask them this. "May I ask you to check to see if my name is on your delivery list as one of the people entitled to this cash fund?"
Curious to see what the scam reply would be, I did. I was asked for my full name, address, phone number, whether I wanted my money via UPS or registered mail. I replied sarcastically, "Hm…don’t you already have this information if I’m on your list?" The contact stopped and I deleted and blocked the phone number. I only remember a 202 area code.
