Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted via email to be a mystery shopper. It was referred to me on linked in from a "friend" and I registered. They send me a priority mail envelope with a bank check for $3,450. Instructions said to deposit it and keep $450 as payment. Then buy google play cards at all stores with the rest of the money and evaluate the cashier. Scratch off and take photos of the numbers. I was very suspicious someone would pay that much money for this simple assignment. I googled it and saw an article written about the Mystery Shopper scam. Thank goodness! I wanted to pay it forward and help others from being scammed. Thank you BBB!

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

There was a mail regarding selection to a Mystery Shopping research program.

They provided $2,450 check in mail and told to confirm once this is received and deposited.

Then as part of the research project, made me do 2 transactions of around $1000 and asked me to send report on how the experience was.

When they gave me the second check and I went to deposit it in the bank, they said that they will not honor it and they will also cancel the earlier check. As a result, I lost the $2000 in the process. Just raised a police complaint
