Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

We received a money order in the mail in the amount of $132.00. It was stated that, "If the original lost money order is located, please do not cash original." At first, we thought perhaps it was a reimbursement for overpayment of a credit card. I took it to the bank to cash it – still unaware of where this money was coming from. The bank teller informed me that there were not enough numbers in the routing number of the check, so it could not be cashed. This is when we both realized this was a scam. There is a phone number to call; however, I did not call it. I chose to report this to the Better Business Bureau instead. We can only assume that if I call, they will ask for information I would want to keep secure.
