Type of a scam Employment

I was scammed with an employment offer for an out sourcing company from Toronto, CA. I was to meet them the first time on the 22nd of this month. However, the job offer was for an Office Assistant position located in Center City. My duties were to set up the new office until arrival of management: from Mini Computer Systems Inc., sent me a UPS cashier check to be deposited into a new account for supplies. I followed duties as instructed communicating with Adam via phone and email. I arrived at my bank National Penn Bank, the teller asked where I got the cashiers check, I responded through my new job I’m an office assistant and I have to open an account for present and future office supplies until management’s arrival. She glanced at the letter of descriptive duties and proceeded with checking account. I returned home to report my completed tasks, another task came via email in regards to preparing to go shopping for supplies the following day. Long story short I returned to my bank to purchase another cashier’s check and was informed that the initial deposit was no good. I receive a letter today indicating that the transaction was a fraud and I am now responsible for a negative balance in my account in the amount of $4,720.00 due to fraudulent cashiers check. It saddens me that you are not even safe while researching job boards, the job was posted on Career-builders job board which is why I kept it optimistic and believed the information provided was legit.
