Type of a scam Employment

I got what I thought was a real employment offer from craigslist. They invited me to interview with them on gmail. After I emailed back and forth they told me they would send me a provisional check for work supplies so that I could start work. They tell you that you have to pay a vendor to set up the equipment. I deposited the check and my bank put it on hold for a short time and kept extending it. I got a letter telling me the check was fake and now I have to deal with my bank. The person responsible now doesn’t want to talk. The check will say kforce on and be a bank of america in atlanta georgia.
