Type of a scam Debt Collections

Initial contact was from a private number saying that I was going to be served with papers and if I wanted to know what it was regarding that they could give me a number to call. The number was a toll free number and when I called they claimed to be a law office. They said I had a debt from 13 years ago where I never closed a bank account or overdrafted a fee or something. I thought it sounded fishy but somehow they had my whole social security number. They gave me a link where I could verify if they were legit company on California government website. They were on there but nowhere did it say they were a lawfirm and a little more fishing determined that they were a brand new business that opened earlier this year. Finally I called back this evening to try to confirm some information and they couldn’t give me any of their lawyers names or license numbers. They threatened to garnish my wages, repossess my property and take me to court.
