Type of a scam Home Improvement

Brad Stevens (Midwest Contracting) knocked on our door saying they were working in the area and did we need any concrete work done. Upon inspection he wrote up a contract and my husband gave 3000 check in exchange to start immediately with the last 600 to be paid when complete. They started the work for a day or two and then never showed up again or returned any calls to us. In hindsight we realize how silly we were handing over that kind of cash but he was very convincing and seemed so trustworthy. I now notice there is no address or website or email to contact him….very sketchy in hindsight.
