While doing a Google search, a window popped up with a voice message telling me that my computer IP address was stolen and my computer was not secure. There was a telephone number to call immediately to correct the hack. The number was identified as a Microsoft technical connection. Instructions were to not turn off my computer or my data would be lost. I called the number because I scared by the message and could not close the window.

A technician named Satish Kaul said he was a Microsoft Master Technician – ID #12007. Seemed legitimate. He was able to enter my laptop, I guess by the random IP address he was able to track. He gave me some instructions to perform on my laptop. None of the applications worked. He also told me that Microsoft has its own security installed with all its customers and I should not continue with my McAfee coverage. He then told me I would have to take my laptop to a Microsoft store to be repaired, OR he could correct it online. Again, I was fooled because he was able to enter my laptop. He told me it would cost $499.00 to correct and I could pay by check or credit card but Microsoft preferred check payment. This is when I got suspicious.

I told him I could not afford this. He was persistent asking for checking account information or if I had "plastic" available to use. I told him I did not have a credit card and did not have my checking account information. He kept pressing, asking for an account number. He asked if I had a canceled check to give him my account number. I told him NO!

We ended that conversation and a few minutes later I got a call from "Ryan" who said he was a Microsoft Supervisor. "Ryan" said since I was a long time customer of Microsoft, he would reduce the fee to $299.00 if could pay immediately. I said I could not pay! Again, Satish telephoned me and said he would call me on Tuesday 5/29/18 to secure payment.

I got a pop up on my computer from Microsoft Technicians telling me to call 844-622-9881. They gave me a code to put in to access my computer. They were on for 10 minutes. I spoke to man with a foreign accent, all kinds of noise in the background. He said there would be a charge. I realized it was a scam, and hung up. He called me back and said he would call a thousand times, and he has already called 100 times.
