I’m 82 years old. I got a voicemail from Microsoft Refund Department saying that I’m due a refund of $399 and to call back at 614-999-1243. I called him, and he told me to turn on my computer. I did. Then he added some icons to my computer. Then he wanted either my credit card number or my bank account number. I told him no. Then he told me that he had compromised my computer and it would cost $500 to get it repaired. He had an accent and was moderately hard to understand. We are below poverty level.

Claiming to be Microsoft refund department. When they call they claim that their server has crashed and they need to refund you your money. Do not fall for the scam as they are trying to take your credit card information. They called about four times a day and are very annoying.

I keep getting calls from this number saying I have a contract with Microsoft, and they are closing. They want to give me a refund. I do not have a contract with Microsoft. I even called Microsoft to check it out. They said they would never call me. This is a scam. I believe they were trying to get my banking information to “refund” my account, but really to clean me out.

I have been contacted several times per day for the past few weeks/months from someone claiming to be from the “Microsoft refund department.” They speak with accents foreign to the United States. They use several different phone numbers. They leave messages, or if you press option one, you can actually speak to a person. I have done so numerous occasions asking them to remove my number from their call list. I last spoke with an agent today. I told him I did not believe he was from Microsoft and I would be reporting him. Each time I asked to be removed from the list or told him I was reporting him they hung up.

Frustrated, today I spoke with an agent. I told him I did not believe he was from Microsoft & I would be reporting him. Each time I asked to be removed from the list they hung up. Guess what he did when I told him I’d be reporting him? Yep. He hung up!

I am reporting this now because these numbers are active as of today.

My mother in law has received several calls – six in ONE day on her cell phone. It’s an automated message supposedly from Microsoft, and they advise you not to hang because they have important information for you. The company that supplies your Microsoft is going out of business and they need to refund you. They tell you to call 888-422-1547 for more information about your refund. We attempted to block the number.

I called to ask them to just remove me from their call list, and the guy that answered claiming to be from Microsoft Refund Department just hung up on me.

Total money lost $7,300

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a phone call from a company that said they’re moving and want to offer me a partial refund for spyware software I purchased some time ago. They transferred money to my account, but it was more than it should have been. They then asked me to make some money transfers to send them back the overpayment. When the money transfer was made, they claimed it could not be picked up because of ID troubles or server troubles. So they asked for the transfer to be done again using a different server.
