I was on my email and I clicked on a link from my student loan provider. right after I clicked on it a message popped up on my screen and an audio message kept repeating there was a security risk and I should call Microsoft at # 1-855-257-7118. I called the number and spoke to a man with an accent , he said his name was John M*** and he worked for Microsoft. He said he needed to check my computer, so I let him gain remote access with a program I was instructed to download. After he showed me my ip address and connections, he said I had been hacked and I needed it repaired immediately, he told me it would cost $ 599.99, I started to cry as I was overwhelmed by everything he was saying, then he said he could give it to me for 399.99. I again started to cry saying I couldn’t afford to pay that much, he then said if I could pay 199.99 he could have a third party technician fix it for me online. He First told me I could bring it to a store in KING of Prussia, but it was too far away for me and I would have to leave all my devices for 3 or 4 days to be fixed. At this point I was freaking out and since I know very little about computers, I agreed to let this MICRO NETWORK CARE Then, we lost the connection of the remote control and I thought it was strange. the man called me back and something told me to not let him back on my computer. I then called MICROSOFT and they told me they would not send a pop up message on the computer, they told me the customer only calls when they are having issues. I was not having issues with my computer, but the pop up audio freaked me out so I called.the number. After we lost the connection, I went on the ScamPulse.com website and started reading all the scams for tech support. I immediately called the number on the back of my card and reported the fraud, hopefully the charge won’t go through. I also uninstalled the apps he put on my computer, not sure what will happen, now I have to bring it somewhere to be checked. Obviously you can’t trust anyone anymore!!!
