Type of a scam Employment

They had a job posting listed on Indeed. They sent an email to me to confirm my information and that they would send me my paperwork via mail (which I never agreed to because that’s sketchy). As I was trying to find out more information, it seemed more and more sketchy to me.

This is a scam to cover up money laundering. They sent me a check for over $3600 and want me to cash it at my bank and wait for further instructions in order to take the money to an "orphanage".

There is no orphanage, there is no charity. They use different, real charity names to make it seem more realistic.

Someone else posted about this already and has more information on what goes on after this. I already knew something wasn’t right and hadn’t agreed to anything but that check still showed up at my house.

I’ve tried going to the police with the evidence I have but so far haven’t received help.
