Type of a scam Credit Cards

A person calling himself Michael Brown emailed our shop to inquire about some car repairs. He said the car had been towed and he needed to pay the tow truck driver, so he would give us a credit card number for $5000 then we would wire the tow truck driver $3800 and we would keep the rest as a deposit on the work we would do. I asked him why he could not pay the tow truck directly and he stopped responding.
