Type of a scam Healthcare/Medicaid/Medicare

The scammer called my 91 year old grandmother and told her that her medicare supplement policy needed to be renewed and that since she didn’t have prescription coverage, this plan did. Scammer asked grandmother to write a check to Medisure, then void it and give the account and check number so it could be drafted from checking account (which she did). The only saving grace was the draft date was for the following month and I was able to do a stop payment with the bank. I called the number and called them out for their scam, told them they were committing fraud and exploitation of the elderly, which is illegal in Texas. When I asked for their business address and information, all I got was "Minnesota" and they hung up. Unfortunately, the scammers re-issued a second bogus check a few days later (after the first check did not go through) with a different check number. If it had not been for bank alerts on her account, this would have gone through. Fortunately, bank is working with me to stop this fraud.
