Type of a scam Debt Collections

I received a notice that my account was placed with this collection agency. It appears to be for a creditor "Childrens Hosp & Research Ctr – EPIC". The data of service matches a date when my daughter had care at UCSF Children’s. However, I called USCF and verified my account was paid in full. I suspect this organization gets data stolen over the internet and attempts to match it to real addresses, sending fraudulent collection notices. The name of the credit doesn’t match exactly, and the "account #" and "customer #" don’t match anything in my records. I’m not going to correspond with them for fear of opening up more issues.
