Type of a scam Employment

I was actively searching for employment on craigslist. I had sent out several resumes out to different positions. One that I applied for was a front desk coordinator/ assistant. I was then contacted through my email from Lakita Williams. she told me that my resume was approved and that I needed to immediately log onto google hangouts and have an interview with a David Robertson, the supervisor. I was busy when the email was sent so i was unable to respond until the following morning. When i logged on and messaged David for my interview, we had an interview via texting, which alarmed me. David sent me an email with the job description and what would be needed for the job. (which they would supply) He informed me that he wanted to me to start immediately. That I was to start training the following morning. The pay was to be $15/hour for training, which was to be done at home via google hangout, and once training was completed I would make $20/hour. He asked how I wanted to be paid. Either weekly or biweekly, and checks or direct deposit. David then told me that he was going to be sending me an employment paper to sign and get back to him. I asked him for a face to face and he told me that after my training they would give me the place and phone number of where i was to be going to work. The day came for me to start training, i logged on and waited for David to respond. I was still feeling uneasy about the job offer; it just seemed to be too good to be true. David logged in and told me that he was going to be giving me two tasks for the day. I told him i was still unsure about the pay. That how was he going to be paying me if he didn’t have my bank information or my personal information, other than my address and phone number. He told me he had enough to write me a check. I told him that how could he with the info. I immediately got uneasy and said it seemed fishy. As soon as i hit enter to say it felt fishy, he instantly sent me a message saying…Ok, goodbye. I started to write sorry and thanks for the offer, and could not send it. He had blocked me that quick. He did not try to alleviate any worries or anything, just goodbye. I am so glad that it happened before he could talk me into sending him money for the equipment that would have been needed for the job.
