Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Was asked to be a mystery shopper. Was going to complete a task at the local Apple store. Was sent a cashiers check for $2985 for “prime way federal credit union”. Was told the task was to go purchase two Apple gift cards for $1300 each and then to text 305- 515-5993 for further instructions after. The salary paid for this job was $330. I called this credit union in Texas and they looked up the check number and said it was a fraudulent check and to discard it immediately. They said this is a huge problem right now and they’re getting lots of calls for the same thing.

I received a text message stating the following, "Hello this is to inform you that the part time job has been approved. Your first assignment will be delivered to your mailing address next week. Your task involves huge shopping at the mail/store. Kindly text to this number 702-425-8511. Thank you, Bill Raidman. MarketVision Research." I never texted the number, but later that week I received a $2,985.00 check in my name. It required me to do a very suspicious task telling me to buy apple store gift cards using the money given and then giving them the gift cards to a secret agent. I will receive $330.00 after I have completed my task and will be assigned a different assignment.
