Type of a scam Business Email Compromise

This is a secret shopper scam. I was sent an email regarding surveys and was told that I had the opportunity to become a secret shopper for walmart. They actually sent me a check for the amount of $1,590.55 from a Tower Federal credit union located p.o. box 123, Annapolis junction, Maryland 20701-0123. With the check was a letter with instructions on how to proceed with the survey. It told me to make a $30 purchase and rate the cashiers performance and then send a money gram in the amount of $1240 to a Antony Jacob Atlanta, GA. It told me to keep $300 for compensation for my participation in the consumer evaluation. I was leary about the check so I didn’t cash it at my bank, I took it to my check cashing location where I was told that the tower federal credit union never issued me the check.
