Type of a scam Rental

I responded to an ad for a house for rent on Facebook. The IM message requested contact via email. See address above. Told me they had been transferred to Texas, and didn’t have any luck selling the house. The listing was on the internet. I verified the owner name Maria Chacon, and drove to and looked at the property. Then I was emailed a rental questionaire, which had my phone number. Then I started receiving texts and a lease which requested the first month rent and deposit via Western Union and the keys would be sent via FedEx to me. Even though there was a lockbox on the house, she claimed that she took all of the keys with her. Then I got the text requesting the cash deposit to hold the apartment via BitCoin. and a location of a Bitcoin ATM in a liquor store. I made several requests for a mailing address to pay the future rent. Claimed her checking account had been messed up with a bogus check, but she would get it straightened out before the next payment was due. I did not wire any funds or pay cash to a BitCoin ATM.

I tried calling the number but only got a message that the TEXTNOW subscriber was unavailable.

I notified Facebook about the account that had listed the ad and the CBI.

This Bitcoin Rental scam is listed in several articles on the internet.
