Type of a scam Romance
I was first contacted through a sailing group site called Meetup in June. We started e-mailing through the Meetup site and after a couple of weeks I gave him my cell number. I was told he was a general contractor / excavator living in Sanibel and he was finishing up on a job. He told me he had to finish up this job and then we would get together. Then he said he just won a bid from a Chinese company to build a pipeline in Houston and he was leaving to get all his crew set up there and get his equipment brought there. That’s when he first asked me for $9,000.00, because he was waiting for a wire to come through from the company in China. He said he needed the money to pay his crew that drove down from Florida to work on the huge project (2.7 million) He even went as far as to show me his banking login information to show this pending transaction. I refused to give him money, because we never met and he was upset, because he knew I had commissions coming in that month. Then he told me his crew all left him and went back to Florida, but they left his excavator there. He was able to hire some Mexican laborers and put them up in a motel,even though they lived in Houston he had to feed them daily, that was part of the deal. A few days later he hit me up for two hundred dollars in itune gift cards. He asked me to go to Walgreen’s and read him the codes on the back of the cards, which I’m embarrassed to say I did. He claimed there was some application on an iPhone that would allow his crew to run the itune cards into cash to buy food. I was scammed and the money gone, just like that. I was very lucky that was all I lost. I just want other people to know about theses scammers out there professing their love and all they want is money. They say and do everything that make you trust them, there really great at what they do. You will never get to meet them face to face.
I contacted the Sheriff department and I will report this to the FBI on Monday.
