Type of a scam Debt Collections

The company continues to call stating they are going to serve papers. They have my work phone number, last 4 of ssn, dob and a previous name of mine. They get very aggressive and say they are a legitimate business and need to serve me papers because I’m being sued for defaulting on a old debt. This debt is not on my credit report and when calling the company they say they’re suing me for; the company stated they do not utilize these companies. They also gave out my birthday and ssn and name to me without me ever confirming who I was. That’s a huge violation if it were a legitimate business.

How do we stop the company? Harassing me is one thing but now they’re calling my employer! How embarrassing although I know it is a scam. A gentleman called and told someone in HR they needed to serve me papers and didn’t want to cause a scene.
