Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I signed up to be a mystery shopper. I received a check by mail and was told to deposit it then purchase Ebay gift cards. I had to purchase cards worth $1,000. After purchasing the cards, I had to scratch off the code on the back and send them a picture. Of course the check has bounced and we lost that money.
