Type of a scam Online Purchase

My husband & I came across a deal that was "too good to be true" for a 2015 Ford F-150 XLT Platinum, for $16,500. The scammer claimed to be a new widow, wishing to sell her husbands truck so that someone might get enjoyment from it. The scammer proceeded to send a car fax, and multiply photos, as well as the current odometer reading. We were informed that the vehicle was in Colorado springs, and they would use a company called U-Ship to ship it to us, and that she would prefer to use an online Escrow company to transfer funds, called "LIBERTY-MART.US" ( She didn’t feel comfortable about being alone with so much money) We were not going to send any money without seeing the truck in person, as we were prepared to fly into the Springs to see the truck.

Red flags were all over these e-mails, so I began to research how to identify a fake website, and used "https://whois.domaintools.com" to look up the site. I discovered that the web site had only been registered 3 days prior, to initial email. The web site is very professional but the security logos at the bottom do not link back to the security certificate, and the building photo is an apartment complex somewhere in Miami.

We then requested the scammer to bring the truck to the dealer where all the service had been done, per the CARFAX, and allow the service manager, (which I had named ) to inspect the truck for any recalls. We thought that this was a reasonable request, since they had already been using this dealership for several years. There were no further reply’s and I had requested the truck go to the dealership in 2 separate emails.

We assume that they have moved onto someone else at this time.
