Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

I had applied for a loan through a separate agency and eventually "Jason *** from Austin, Texas" called saying Lenders Club had an opportunity for a $5000 loan for me. They were wanting $1500, 3 Gift Cards at $500 each to verify electronic fund transfers from either Walmart or Target. I called/checked my bank throughout the day and went from $13 to $1513 because they had supplied the funds. My bank told me to go no further. They ended up calling me threatening me to the police because I had "stolen" their money.
