Came to door unsolicited for driveway seal coating service. Stated they were in the neighborhood and wanted to empty out their tanks for the season. Promised to perform slurry seal coating, crack and pot hole repair the following day at a discount – since it was the end of the season. No written estimate given. Came next day, sprayed watered down seal coating, no crack or pot hole repair, did not edge lawn along driveway. The slurry seal coating process involves the use of aggregate mixed in with the seal coating liquid – hence a "slurry" – no aggregate was used. When confronted they stated that we did not know what slurry seal coating was and proceeded to demand payment. They were on-site for less than an hour performing their work – requested $850 for payment. Payment refused, police called, they left – drove down street. Filed police report and the police caught up with them when they were leaving the neighborhood. Police cited them for solicitation without a license.Contractor used profanity and threatened to sue – withdrew that claim after being confronted by police. No invoice or warranty presented when requesting payment. Verbal warranty for 5 years on work. Did poor job cleaning driveway and sprayed watered down sealant on driveway areas where twigs, dirt and leaves were present. Neighbor who had just had their driveway done by them a few days earlier stopped by to complain about their work while police were present. They promised to send someone to fix issues – neighbor already paid them $400. Don’t expect to ever see them again. We were lulled into a false sense of security since several neighbors had their driveways done in the previous 2 days, and contractor had their sign on their driveways. Will know better next time – "contractor" was not registered with the ScamPulse.com. Their trucks were also not placarded with their business name. No written estimate or invoice presented at completion of "work". Will be smarter next time and check references, insurance bonding, and for solicitation license. It is also suspicious and should have been a red flag for us that they do not list a physical address on their website – only a city and zip code.
