Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Received a letter and mail order check for $1000. Told to deposit check and then go to Best Buy and purchase two best buy gift cards in amounts of $500 & $200. My salary would be $280 with a $20 bonus if done within 2 days of depositing check. Submit your report as to exact location of assignment, name of cashier, how long the transaction took, would you return to that store and how I would rate the overall experience ona scale from 1-10. A mailing address would be provided to send cards to are my report is received.
