Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted by a person via text message claiming to be with Hikma Pharmaceuticals with a work-from-home position. This person claims to have found my resumeposted to an online job board, and had decided to contact me for employnent. I was asked to contact an HR manager via Google Hangouts so that I may begin the "interview/briefing". At first I was unsure, but their knowledge of Hikma seemed to be genuine. Some flags that did go off in my head were: 1. Why is the HR manager not contacting me by phone, but using text instead? 2. Why is the HR Manager using a Gmail account instead of a Hikma email? 3. Why would a company be eager to send me supplies to work from home (including a Mac book Air) without knowing me? These questions prompted me to do more research into Hikma’s hiring process. That is when I saw a warning on the official Hikma website which warns against any unofficial interview via third party mediums like Google Hangouts.

I received a text message today, February 5th, 2016 at 10:40 am from phone number +1 602-633-9088. The message stated that my resumed (from an unspecified job search website) has been selected for an online interview with the person who had me the message. The conversation goes as followed:

Initial message from said number at 10:40 am: "Hello…………i believe this is (said my name)?"

My response at 10:41 am: "Yes."

Their reply: "Hi……..I’m Mr. Brad Gaffney from the firm (Hikma Pharmaceuticals Ltd)..I’m contacting you due to your resume posted,we have forwarded it to our Head Department and you have been selected for an online interview with me.let me know if you are interested in knowing more about the job :)"

Red flags went off with how this "company" was contacting potential candidates through text message and not tradition phone calls or email. With that being said, I pretended to show interest in "knowing more about the job".

The conversation continues as follows,

Their message at 10:42 am: "Your resume have been reviewed by the Human Resources of the company and you have being selected for an online interview with me now Opening Positions… (he lists all the opening and still never specifies what job I was initially selected for". He then asks me this question, "You have been selected for our online Screening Interview via Gmail Hangout/Google talk messanger. So do you have a Gmail account ?"

I replied that I did and was sent this minutes later at 10:50 am, "Good…..i need you to get online now on your PC or Phone,You’re sent an invite to Mr. Daniel J.Browning on your google hangout buddy list on,[email protected]‘s online waiting on you..and let me know once you’re connected!" To which I then noticed this guy isn’t the one interviewing me and that I had no pending invitations which meant that I had to send one to that person mentioned. Upon initiating the invitation I got a message from "Sir Daniel J. Browning" welcoming me. In the message I was asked if I had ever conducted an online interview. To that I replied "No" and that "I wasn’t sure about how it was much different from the traditional interview. " His reply was that his interviewed were conducted through "chat only" (which sealed the deal).

The "interview" messages went like this:

Sir Daniel J. Browning: "Welcome to the company, i believe you are here for the job briefing/interview. As we procewws further with the briefing and interview, you will get to know more about the opening position."

I kept responses short and noticed that his messages were duplicated until he asked "Have you ever been interviewed online before?" I replied in short, "No. I have not." and again his response "Hello ***…My been here with you is to brief you more about Hikma Pharmaceuticals Ltd..also conduct the main online job interview with you and i believe you are well set & eligible to hear and know more about the opening positions we have in offering you."

I replied that "I wanted to know more" and offered a video conference. He declines saying "No it a chatting interview." I figured it out that it was a scam and went about doing my research on this company only to find that none of their information ever existed and this "Hikma Pharmaceuticals" was located overseas in the UK. As "Sir Daniel J. Browning" continued "conversing" with me through Google Hangout he asked what positions will I be able to handle effectively. I picked two random ones and his reply was "Next would be the briefing about the Job and the company. I advise that you follow the briefing" and that I was told ask questions after he’s finished sending his information. He provided false information about the company then proceeded to ask for information like my full name, age, and location and my sex. I declined providing any of it as it should have been accessible through the "resume" that he claimed to "not have at his desk". He insisted in knowing my information to which I again declined and told him I was no longer interested and blocked him and his cohort from further contact. And I have archived the messages exchanged.

Google Hangouts employment interview where they later requested money from me to purchase required equipment for the job. When told that I had no funds to purchase anything they offered to send me a check to cover all equipment costs which would need to be deposited into my ATM machine to quickly begin the training.
