Total money lost $1,500

Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

I received a text message from 727-302-1029 stating I had been approved for a loan; I called the number and spoke with a person who identified herself as Ida Jones, at Hi Tech Capital, LLC She said that I had been approved for a loan and ask for my email address to send me the loan documents. I received the loan documents by email from [email protected](I still have them). I signed them electrically and email the signed document back to Ida. Ida call to say the loan would be deposited to my account the next day and that she needed my routing and account number to transfer the money. She said they would deposit a small amount to verify my account, I needed to send that amount back to them that would verify the account to deposit the loan. What they really did was dispute items that I had already paid and had the bank credit the money back to my account to make it look as if they had made a $1500 deposit to my account. Stupid me, I didn’t know that at the time. They told me to send the deposit back to them and that would verify my account to deposit the loan. In realty they never deposited anything into my account, it was a scam! Because of the fraud activity on my account JPMorgan chase has closed my checking and saving account and won’t allow me to open another with them, I have been a loyal customer for 10 years and this is what they do! I have reported this fraud/scam to my local authorities as well.

Dear Victim,

On behalf of the “Real” Hi Tech Funding, I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear you were scammed. While it is too late to help you in this particular case, I do hope my reply helps other people and stops them from being scammed in a similar way. First and foremost, Hi Tech Funding is a business lender, not a personal lender. Such a company would never “cold call” anyone to let them know they were approved for a loan. Businesses come to us for loans or they fill out our online form, and we contact them from there. Any type of cold calling is unethical, in any industry. Secondly, the company is New York based, so the loan office contacting you would have either a New York or New Jersey area code, and their email address would be from a legitimate company domain name email server (not a gmail address or anything of that sort). Last but not least, if you still have doubt – go to the company Website, call the main number, and ask for the loan officer you are dealing with. These are the easiest ways to avoid getting scammed. In this case, the easiest way to spot the scammer would have been the fact that they were offering a personal loan service using the name of a company that strictly does business loans… Again – I am truly sorry for your experience and inconvenience. Thank you for posting this message – as we do prosecute scammers – we hope you do not mind that we are reporting your case to the authorities as these scammers did infringe on our good name. And I do hope this posting stops someone else from being scammed. Have a wonderful day.
