Type of a scam Government Grant

The scammer hacked into my Messenger Account on Facebook posing as one of my Friends which included her picture attached to the message. The scammer asks: Have you heard about the HHS grants offered to help people during the coronavirus crisis? Then posing as my friend again sends me a phone # out of Temecula, CA to call for help getting the grant (951-708-6413). I did contact the number and they said the grant can only be processed through texting with them. He sent a list of personal info he would need from me and said he will get back with me on what type of grant I’d qualify for. Don’t send any info to this number. HHS doesn’t give grants to individuals. I checked with the BBB, HHS, and AG consumer protection office and my friend before I went any further with this and all confirmed this was most likely a scam. I determined it is a scam from all the sources I contacted. I blocked the number from my phone and had to block my friend who was hacked which caused me to later get hacked. i am still waiting to see what Facebook will do about this matter if anything.

I was contacted by a friend on messanger we talked and she let me know about a grant. I called the number and learned I can recieved 78k. I needed to pay processing fee. I did so. After I paid the fee I was told that I have to take the whole grant of 168k and pay the higher processing fee. I did. then I was told or called by Michael 951-307-2957 That the IRS intercepted them and I have to pay taxes. I questioned that IRS does not pay taxes upfront. But I paid the 16k. This is so embarassing!!! 48 hours delivery will take place . The Henry Crowford text and said that he put in for more money and the directors are holding him to that and I have to pay more. I have no more left. but I stay in contact leading him on in hopes someone will catch him.

Type of a scam Healthcare/Medicaid/Medicare

Caller calls and asks for a primary care care physician name and medical insurance information after stating that they are representing the federal Health & Human Services Department. I recommend telling them that dr. Theodor Seuss is your primary care! HHS DOES NOT CALL CITIZENS TO SOLICIT THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION.

Call came up as an 800 number. The Person on the other end of the line asked if this was (my name). The caller spoke with a Asian Indian accent. I asked who was calling and there was dead silence on the other end. I then Hung up on the caller. Upon checking the "Recents" on my cell phone, the telephone number came up with an area code and number from Jacksonville, FL. I Called that number and went into voice mail with a person stating that they were from the Department of Health and Human Services. I hung up and immediately received a call back from the same number. I then Googled "Calls from the Department of Health and Human Services" and numerous warnings came up about these scam calls.

I received a telephone call from Maria, on August 29, 2016 @ 11:05 AM, stating I’ve been selected out of 1,500 people approved for a grant that I would never have to pay back. Maria stated that I would be transferred to a financial adviser to unlock my federal grant and provided a federal grant approval number. I then called a Mr. Elmer Miller who stated congratulations that I was approved out of 1,500 people per year to receive a federal grant. I said how much do I have to pay as I figured it was a scam. He proceeded to tell me I had to pay $250.00. I asked questions and that I would need to investigate. He stated I could go to website, www.usagrants.org, to investigate. I said ok thank you and that I would give him a call later. I realized that the two people I talked to sounded that they were from outside of the US. I then contacted BBB.
