Type of a scam Tax Collection

An alleged representative of Helping Hands by the name of Ann contacted me via the spoofed phone above. A recording came on saying that this call would be recorded for monitoring purposes or something like that. Ann then asked, did I owe the IRS more than 10,000 dollars? When I answered "No" the phone hung up.

This was the typical phone call. Can You Hear Me? They want you to answer yes. I just asked who it was again and tried to opt out. They gave me the option of opting out, but I keep receiving these calls form different local numbers.

I recognized the town that popped up so I assumed it was someone’s cell from work. When I answered they said their name was Angela and asked if I could here them since they were on a recorded line. I said yes and then they started saying they were from Helping Hands but I hung up immediately. I did not know about the “Can you hear me “scam until after the phone call. If lasted around 12 seconds.

Victim Location 53227

Type of a scam Identity Theft

this is one of those that says "this is Tom from Helping Hands, can you hear me ok" scams to get your information. I have been getting these calls to my cell phone, which is on the Do Not Call Registry.

because I have been getting so many random phone calls to my phone number, I only pick up calls from numbers I know. Thankfully I don’t answer these calls, but getting them so often is getting incredibly annoying.

Victim Location 64014

Type of a scam Home Improvement

Tells me I qualify for energy saving bathroom improvements. Obvious scam robocall. Try to call the number back to talk to someone and it says to email them.

Type of a scam Healthcare/Medicaid/Medicare

Gentleman caller said "Hi this is Jim from Helping Hands, do you hear me ok?" I responded "yes". A long pause then the statement "someone in your household gets prescriptions refilled, is that correct?" I responded "yes". Long pause then phone hung up. I searched Google for Helping Hands and see it is a scam in itself, but underneath the phrase "Do you hear me ok?" site said they record your voice and then use it to sign you up for something or sell you something you didn’t want, and when you go to cancel they use your Yes answer as proof of your approval.

Type of a scam Charity

I get around two calls a day. All my calls come from either Prosser, WA., Yakima, WA., and Spokane WA. All claim to be from an organization called Helping Hands. As soon as I tell them I’m not interested in anything they are selling or donations and ask to be taken off their call list they hang up. When I immediately call back my call goes to a recording that all their reps are busy on other calls and then refer to their email for further question. I have not emailed them because I don’t want them to have my email address. Phone numbers are constantly changing but are usually coming from the three cities I listed above. If there is a law against scammers and telemarketers harassing people how do file a complaint? These are especially annoying because they are distracting when I’m at work.

Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

Hang Up! Never answer a phone number you don’t recognize. As soon as you tell them you know the scam they disconnect. Horrible people.

Victim Location 94559

Type of a scam Charity

This is not a charity, and Todd Lehman says as much. He has profited with over $1.5 million dollars scamming Seniors. I get calls from his Helping Hands organization day and night, with different phone numbers each time. He claims we need to put our phone number into their "internal Do Not Call list", which is not true. The onus is on the company to make sure they check the Do Not Call list before calling the numbers, so don’t fall for this distraction. He’s doing nothing to help others, but doing everything to line his own pockets.

Victim Location 19040

Type of a scam Phishing

I received a call on my cell phone from a number listed as "Hatboro, PA" – my town. I answered thinking it might be from the elementary school. The caller said, "Hi this is Joe from Helping Hands. Can you hear me okay?" As soon as I said "Yes," they hung up. I suspect they may be trying to use it to get credit or purchase authorization for something. I haven’t lost money yet but will be verifying all credit card transaction and credit reports.
