Type of a scam Debt Collections

Called and stated that I owed the hospital $ and that account had been sold to them. Told me the amount owed the original claim number and the date services were issued. Said to call the hospital and talk to them and that they would verify that it was a real bill and to avoid having to go through all the different people and being put on hold to just call him back at his number and he would fix things for me. "David Moore @ Hake Law Group" I did call like he suggested but asked different questions and was told flat out that it was a scam. The lady on the phone told me all the names of the companies that they do turn over accounts to and that also after 4 years the account is dropped bc it cost them more money to persue it in court that the actual bill.
