Type of a scam Government Grant

Recieved a messenger message from a relative that I haven’t spoken to in years, stating that he had won a cash award from the government. He claimed that when he signed for his winnings, that he saw my name on the list of winners. He provided a contact email for another agent to verify if I was in fact a winner. I contacted the agent, and he replied via email with a congratulatory message wanting to know a tremendous amount of personal information. I decided to check with another family member if any financial good fortune had come the way of the person who had contacted me, and of course, this was all a scam. I replied to the messages with a very personal question that only the real family member could answer and the scammer couldn’t answer it. The communication has stopped now.
