I volunteer for Pet FBI (Pets Found By Internet). Scammers have been tormenting pet owners with missing pets. They will text the pet owner saying they have found their missing dog, cat, etc. The unwitting pet owner will excitedly respond wanting to meet with the texter. The texter then asks the pet owner to verify they are the rightful owner by replying with a 6 digit Google Voice verification code.

I recently had a missing cat and filed a lost cat report on the PetFBI.org lost & found pet database. The following day the scammer texted me. Since I was aware of the Google Voice Scam I did not respond.
