Type of a scam Employment

While on Indeed I came across a job opening titled "Admin Assistant/Receptionist" at a company called "Colden Company Inc – Ballston Spa, NY 12020" so I applied. A day later on 4-13-18 an odd number had texted me saying "Dear Applicant, How are you doing today? After reviewing your resume you sent me from indeed website about the Admin Assist/Receptionist position read more about the job by clicking this link", he sent me a link which I didn’t bother to read because it was basic information like first name, last name, address and email. I didn’t text the number back for a week because it seemed a little sketchy to me to text an "employer" back so I filled out the form instead. A week later on 4-19-18 I got another text from the same number about a total different "job" about a mystery shopper assistant positon that i never signed up for. So i went back to go read the "form" again and that’s exactly what it was, a job for some mystery shopper. He had texted me once again on 4-19-18 saying "Good morning ***, How are you doing today? This is Mr. Henderson about the Mystery Shopper Asst Position, regarding the Job Application form you filled with Service Evaluation Concepts(SEC) i just want to let you know that your first task check assignment has been mailed out to you via USPS…. I will get back to you with the tracking number and instruction on what to do…Get back to me ASAP." which then I had responded with "I’m sorry but I’m not interested." Well a few days go on by, today is 4-21-18 I come home and check the mail and some package was at my door, and I’m not expecting anything so I opened it up and it was a check from Fort Sill National Bank in OK for $3,723.00 and I said what in the world is this, and I know a fake check when I see it.. so I contacted a family member to look into it for me and there it was this whole scam about checks from this bank for a scammer trying to get you to do something and to deposit a check.. which luckily I didn’t deposit and I would NEVER, so I texted the number back and asked if he had sent soemthing through the mail and he had replied with "Yes that’s your first task check assignment" I said "There was a check inside the box but that was all" he had replied with "Yes I will send you the instruction on what to do in a file shortly before then you can go ahead and have the check deposited." Right then and there I knew something wasn’t right and "he" just wanted to get me for something else. ALWAYS be careful on what you do and always get someone else’s opinion on something you don’t think is right.
