I had someone call from what showed on my caller I.D. as being the ************* Union. This person asked to speak with me. He then stated his name and that he was calling from Fraud Prevention with the ******. He asked if I could verify my mother’s maiden name (a standard questions asked by ******* ****** *****), and then state that a charge was showing on my account for an amount of $100 at a 7-Eleven in Miami Beach, Florida. I verified that it was not done by me as I am in California. He said the would lock the account. I asked how would someone have got my information? He responded, "typically from online shopping or gas stations". I said, yeah that makes sense but I don’t shop with this card or do any transactions with this card. He said it looked like my account was saved to a Samsung Pass account, and then asked for the card pin. I asked why he would need this if he already locked the account and issuing a new one. He said "oh because we don’t want the same pin to be used and to block the current card from being used. I should have went with my gut and said no or just hung up but he had sounded convincing the entire time and had even had my address. SO, I gave it to him. He then continued his entire stunt and said great I’ve saved this, it wont be used again. We’ll send you your new card to your address at *****. Then I hung up and immediately called my bank and they were closed due to it being a Holiday (May 25, 20). The following day I had 3 separate transactions on my account in Florida, then later in the day a larger transaction was made on my account for $3000. Please should know that people are calling pretending to be Fraud Prevention. They know all the standard questions to ask.. etc.
