Initially received contact to be a mystery shopper through my school email account. I then received a letter and a cashiers check via the mail from a Glad Stone Survey Inc. It stated that I received my first survey packet and I should read carefully before caching the included check. It asked me to be mystery shopper and go to my local Apple Store. It gave specific instructions on what to purchase and that the expenses would be paid by the included check, the extra money in eluded was $400, and it was to pay me for my time. It specifically wanted me to use the funds to purchase %1574 in Apple Store Gift Cards. It stated if I had any issues purchasing the cards I was to ask for supervisor assistance but for no reason am I to say I am a mystery shopper. It included a list of questions to respond to via email about my experience at the store location. After completing the assignment I was to scratch off the gift cards number and take a picture of my receipt to confirm purchase and numbers to confirm matching cards. The footer on the letter was addressed to a Matthew Foxwell, MBA. Survey Co-Ordinator. GladStone Survey INC. (619)378-7069. Total money lost $3,500

Type of a scam Employment

I am a current college student who received various emails appearing to be other students from my university talking about an easy employment opportunity as a secret shopper. Once being directed to a site asking for basic information I received a check in the mail. I was directed to deposit the check in order to perform secret shopper assignments. However, after cashing the check and performing the first shopping assignment my account was charged for a fraudulent check in the amount of the original check. At the moment, I have lost money given that my account was charged and I have no way of repaying the amount back to the bank.
