Type of a scam Debt Collections

Company I calling to collect on a bank debt from 2006. Called myself and my family threading to serve papers and sue me if I don’t respond. I call to speck to someone, the phone just rings and finally a vm picks up but doesn’t state company name. They call back the very next morning stating I owed to a bank I belonged to 12 years prior. They had an old address and told me I needed to pay the amount. I did give my card information updated address. I asked for a paper form of the agreement but only received an email. I’m now very concerned that this isn’t an actual collections company and that it’s a scam. They only took the agreed upon amount so far, I have a feeling in my gut that this just isn’t real.
