Type of a scam Home Improvement

This individual also does business as GP Construction. He was hired by us for a remodel in a home we were about to move into. He gives impression he is knowledgable and licensed. His company is not licensed and he is not licensed individually in anything. Things started off good and we were encouraged. He asked for more money foe supplies or to "pay his people". We only saw 1 person in our home. He gave the impression he had a crew of workers to that were on other jobs that would be helping. Suddenly he had family emergencies and never came back. He would text occasionally with "family updates" and say he’d show up to continue working but never came. We kept asking him to meet with us in person so we could review what all still needed to be done. He would say he’d come and even set a time. He never showed. We made the mistake of not checking this guy out first. We had to move into the house with powdered texture residue everywhere and plastic hanging. The house was a wreck in progress so we began cleaning it up and trying to do a lot of the projects ourselves. We didn’t have money to pay another contractor so we’ve concentrated on finding individuals to do specific things. We texted him we wanted money back for services he did not perform. He never showed up. This man has no integrity. He is not trustworthy or reliable. We have no choice but to pursue in court. We can’t let him do this to other people.
