Type of a scam Tech Support

A man who identified himself as Jordan from Geek Support called (no Caller ID) and told me my computer was sending them "warnings" and needed to be fixed. He asked me to run something on my computer and I told him it was obviously a scam and he was mad, asking why I think that and said if that’s what I think then he will just "shut my computer down" from his location then. Obviously this was a scam, I assume to install a virus.

I received a phone call while at work on my cell phone from an 860-885-5399 claiming to be a tech support rep from Geek Support. I didn’t have time to mess with the guy but he sounded like he was from India so I informed him I was actually an IT Admin and probably didn’t need his technical support. Once I told him that, he started cursing at me and soon after hung up, which provided enough reason to believe this was a scam.

They called my wifes phone and said my computer is infected. To sit in front and give them permission to take control of it. I never authorized this call or asked for any IT support. They were sketchy with details and misrepresented themselves to me on the phone. Older people can become very sucseptable to this type of scam. Geek Support is the name they identified with. When I called them through their pngage…the gentlemen that I spoke with said the opposite of what his "employee" who called had said. When I asked for specifics to their business they hung up on me. Both people I spoke with were of foreign places due to their thick accent.

Received a phone call from an individual claiming to be "Geek Support", they were notifying me that my computer was reporting an infection. I refused to give them any information regarding the computer. Sounded very official, even gave me a phone number to return their call. The phone number they gave to me was 1-516-210-0398. When I called the phone number back, they did answer it "Geek Support".
