Type of a scam Debt Collections

I received a facebook message from a college friend yesterday morning stating he received a very personal voicemail for me at his business number. I called the number provided and was greeted by a "James Turner". He stated that he was trying to reach me in reference to a payday loan i had taken out several years ago, couldn’t give me an exact date or the original creditor. He kept stating that debt fell under Cash Net USA and that they had several companies under their umbrella. He went on to say that I had until end of business yesterday to pay the settlement amount which was equal to the original loan amount of $300.00. He stated that if i didn’t pay then I would be served and a lawsuit would be filed. The amount would then change to $1500.00. The buddy of mine he called lives in New Mexico where I haven’t lived in over 10 years. The address he provided me as my physical address i have not lived at in over 13 years. When i told him this he said i had until the end of the day to pay. Today James proceeded to call my work line stating that the original creditor has began an audit on his company and they need to collect the settlement amount right away. I stated that I was still waiting for him to send me a validation of debt. He laughed and said good luck in court and hung up.
