Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

Freedom Loan Resolution Services called and left a voice message stating I was pre approved for student loan forgiveness program through the Department of Education and I should act soon because it is only for a limited time. I called the number left on my voice mail and was connected to a representative who was a fast talking salesman and before I knew it he had me electronically sign documents. I ended up giving him my debit card number. He wanted my bank account # with routing number but didn’t give him that.

He got into my FSA account and has all my information. My name, Birthday, social security number, and address.

He said this company would help clean my credit report, my loans would appear current.

They would charge my account $199.00 for 5 months. Then $39.00 for 3 months and nothing after that.

The representative said he could get me on a Hardship forgiveness program but that is not true.

According to the Dept. of Ed.

Hardship Deferment lasts 3 years after that you would have to resubmit all your information.

I felt good about the call for about an hour. Then I decided to look them up and found out it’s all a scam.

There is no such thing as forgiveness on your loans unless you work a civil service job or nonprofit job and have made 120 payments without fail.

I called my bank. Cancelled my debit card. Called my federal loan lender let them know what happened and the credit bureau regarding my ss# Incase someone tries to open credit cards or loan in my name.

Beware of calls stating “You have been pre-approved for federal student loan forgiveness.”
